Vilma Pinedo
Quechua Healer and Wisdom Keeper
Spirit Keepers Circle: Sacred Ways of the Andes
September 20, 10 AM-4 PM
Elks Performing Arts Center
3rd floor (Enter through door to the left of theater.)
Prescott, Arizona
Cancelled due to COVID-19.

The mysticism of the Andes is well documented through traditional healers and Spirit Keepers who live there, allowing the multidimensional worlds to inform their daily lives.

Vilma Pinedo offers us an introduction to Andean cosmovision, elements opening the portal between worlds. These ways make up a sense of the sacred that all may access: full presence, deep relationship between humans and nature, and the workings of energy. Vilma shares the reality she inherited from her lineage…taught through dreams from her ancestors…and the knowledge that comes from being a daughter of the Pachamama and sacred mountains of the Andes.

“The voices of my dreams told me: ‘We have been waiting for you. It is time for you to start.’ When I told the sages of my community what had happened…they kissed the earth and told me that I was the one who would continue with the lineage medicine of the grandparents. ”

Once Vilma has shared the Andean nature of reality, we will continue with a Despacho Ceremony. A despacho is a prayer or medicine bundle. We enter into ayni…sacred reciprocity…with the living energies of the Universe toward balance, healing and celebration.

Note: Participants may bring items to include on an altar for blessing. As examples: These may be photos of loved ones, medicine bundles, power objects or other sacred items. Bring a blanket, pillow, etc. to be comfortable on the floor for the circle. Otherwise chairs will be available.

Vilma Pinedo was born into a long lineage of respected Quechua paqo’s – Wisdom Keepers in the mystical tradition of the Andes – on both her mother’s and father’s sides. This includes her Great-Uncle Benito Qorihuaman who taught Peruvian teachers Juan Nuñez and Américo Yabár. She was marked for that destiny herself when her mother was struck by lightning while pregnant with Vilma. She grew up surrounded by Masters; Vilma was their apprentice. At the age of 12 she formally took the path of the healer and considers the Condor, spirit of the Upper World, her protector. Dispensing guidance through dreams, divination from Mama Coca and ritual, she seeks to heal and raise awareness. Vilma is greatly respected as a healer with heart, unusual for one still young. Such acknowledgement brought her an invitation to accompany the Dalai Lama on his journey to Machu Picchu.
